Went out to the airport yesterday morning for our usual flyout breakfast. Williston and chili cheese omlet. At 4500 you could see both coasts, WHAT a Perfect day. Your T18 had tears in its eyes, cheered up when I told it that you would be back in a few days

Bob, I'm a wannabe... wannabe in Hawaii! I've been able to fly anytime I wanted to for the last few weeks, but light snow started this evening. It'll be a white Christmas for us.

Bob,
Short answer: YES! Many moons ago my F16 ANG unit deployed there for 3 weeks of "official work" supporting the HANG's ORE (operational readiness exercise). Sure Fighting F-15's and hanging out in HI is "tough" duty. :) We were told it was a thank you for back to back deployments to Iraq in 03', regardless, it was awesome.

While there I drove over to the North shore many times to the Dillingham Airport, a former B-17 base. There was a flying 0-290 powered T-18 there and another under construction, at least in 2004. It's worth a drive out there and even spring for a glider ride, gorgeous location!

Trip to Dillingham was fun, but no Thorps. Talked to an EAAer that has built two homebuilts and he could not remeber any Thorps. Another oldtimer (Suzy) said she thought there were some under constuction at KHNL (east side). Have not checked out Barber's Point, now the center of GA on Oahu.
