Was at the specialty hard wood joint a while back - slumming it - saw them throw away some Baltic Birch slats used to protect the pallet sides of the expensive wood for sale - asked them if they'd mind if I dove the dumpster - said have at it - found a cupla nice 3/8 inch pieces - el freebo - tickled I was - like discovering you had a 3rd pair of clean underwear Saturday night so you don't have to do laundry before visiting the Parson on Sunday - never bin much into wood in metal airplanes, but I wasn't tickled with the carpet over the walking beam, so bolted some 1/2 inch channel (a wink and a buck at the local metal warehouse) to the plate flanges and velcro'd the wood plates to the 1/2 inch channel for easy removal and inspection of the control mech. - Spent more on the velcro tabs than on the wood and the channel - I wish I'd thought of using velcro on the baggage compartment - maybe I'll redo it.

Gonna be looking for stick boodies at OSH booths - if you see some, hunt me down.
