Does anyone have or know of an available engine mount for a Lyc O-360 Dynafocal ? My mount has the Lord pads out of alignment and I need either a jig or a mount I can modify to fit my A1G6 rear carb engine. I don't mind a little damage as long as the pads are properly aligned. I have to modify the X braces on the bottom to clear my carb intake.

Where do you live? I have jig for the mount. You could use it to realign your mount and modify it for the carb.

Hi Bob. I live north of Denver in Fort Collins. The pads are pointing to the right . It had a bent tube that was repaired but it still is bent. I think it would take a lot of heating and re welding to get it fixed in a jig. Maybe starting with a new mount would be better. I am still trying to puzzle it out how to fix it. The rear intake for the carb means the x braces on the bottom have to be moved and a plate to add strength added.

Thanks for replying.

I have a rear carb/fuel injection. My hangar mate also had a rear carb. Very familiar with what it takes to make it work. You will need to cut the "x" out and drop it down, then reinforce the center with a plate. II might be able to get a picture if you like.

Also, know that the Thorp engine is mounted three degrees to the right and five degrees down, just like an Ercoupe.

This is Lee's old red and white T-18. He had the spinner and cowl perfectly aligned. I bought it from Doug Holmgren still in good alignment. I had a tailwheel lock up and put it on its nose and bent the mount. I tried to get it repaired but it came back almost as bad as after the accident.

Okay. Now I have the picture. Probably the best thing is to start with a new mount. No telling what stresses are on the old one.

I think you're right. It took 3 men to line up the last bolt hole when we put the mount on the engine on the stand. There is a lot of preload there.

Now to get a mount to modify.

Let me know if you still need the jig transported to Colorado. I am still not sure of the new schedule for my trip, but hoping to head down in about a month. I will have truck and trailer for N4784G and a new engine. I’m about 2 hours (depending on traffic) south of Fort Collins.

Steve, thanks for the offer. I have modified a NOS mount that works great. Thanks to Bob Highley and Richard Bentley. I'm almost ready to fly it.
