Lou and others - here is a good formation video by someone who was a bit new to it. Note around the 12.5 minute mark as to who is the lead pilot.

That was actually my re-Checkride for FFI FlightLead card. I had to take another check because I let me last one lapse. I needed the card to provide lead for the OshKosh demo. I asked for volunteers to fill a four ship and ended up with a total of seven. The red RV Super Six in the slot was the check pilot. I didn't know Bruce filmed it. You can find many great videos and outstanding instruction on his website: Bruceair.com.

By the way, if anyone is interested in flying aerobatics in an Extra 300L, he provides instruction out of Boulder City (southeast Vegas) in the winter and out of Boeing field in Seattle in the summer.
Good friend.

Mission accomplished! I had a damn fine day of formation flying. Two RV’s, two Yak’s, a Piper station wagon >:D of some sort, and TWO THORPS! Brian was my safety buddy on one flight.
Flew home and took a nap! :P Looking forward to the next time.

Lou.

Good on ya Lou!
Keep at it. It is a perishable skill that takes a while to feel comfortable with.

Lou: Cubes is right . It is a skill that will go sour unless you do it on a regular basis . It is a mental and physical skill that will leave you drained at the end of a hop as a "new student ." The hard part is to release the "Death Grip" on the stick and breath "normally" through your 02 mask ! :o
