If you gained 1 MPH with the fairing it would be a miracle !
I think it is more of an appearance item than a speed item . 
I have the CSA fiberglass fairing sitting on my shelf...come and get it !

Has anyone ever used a fairing at the base of the vertical fin and fuselage intersection? If so, did you notice any appreciable speed increase? |

Before I bought 'Feisty', I looked at an S-18 that had such a fairing. It was a triangular leading edge fairing. The front of it just cleared the canopy when it was all the way open. It's rise to the vertical stab was less than 45 degrees. I did not fly the plane. I always thought it was to assist with spin recovery, which the S-18 might be more difficult to recover from? |

I decide to scratch built my own fairing, and I desing one for the belly too! The top fairing.   The bottom.  I just finished to bend the edge. Now I have to utilise some sheet metal tools to finish the job properly.  I have no reference for the speed, but I want the WOW effect on the tarmac at the airport!

Here's mine....never much cared for the aesthetics of it. Was going to leave it off when I painted, but there's a mounting base already riveted to the fuselage, so, back on it went. Thierry's however looks wicked cool!
