Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to let you know another Thorp is now flying down under, N18GR now VH VBF had it's first flight yesterday. She flew beautifully and everything worked!! I flew around the strip at 2500' for 15 minutes to ensure all was good, then climbed to 4000' for some slow flying with flaps out and stalls. I still have much to learn and I will take it cautiously, but no surprises a good honest flying aircraft. The Thorp really is an impressive performer, I had a ground speed of 210 mph with a bit of a tail wing heading back to the airfield. VBF will be based at Riddells Creek Airfield which is about 35 miles North of Melbourne Victoria.

Many thanks to Dave Magaw for his help right through this process of importing and putting it on the Australian register. It has taken longer than I expected due to paperwork with CASA ( Aussie FAA) but all good and better late than never.

I look forward to many hours of enjoyment.

Bernie VH VBF

It appears the US is really a net exporter - am starting to think there may be more T-18s "danunder" than RVs......congrats Bernie.

Jack,
As I fly mine about people often ask if I know of one for sale, so I will keep it in mind. I'm heading for New Guinea to start work in a few days time and won't be home till late January - someone's got to keep the wheels of industry turning!! But Feb I will be 'out and about' in the Thorp.
I have flown just on 10 hours now and I'm getting use to take offs and landing - believe me I've had a few exciting ones. My backside has eaten the cushion a few times! Everytime I climb out I am amazed at how well this aircraft performs, it's a joy to fly. I have not had a chance to do any serious cross country, but she certainly gets places quickly, looking forward to stretching whose legs.

Bernie
