Invest in the screw type rivet setter. The hit-it-with-a-hammer type will waste time and materials. You can screw it down some and check the results, stopping before you go too far.

This is the one I just used, actually a friend did it but I "watched" :)

he has the DELUXE model (screw type) and it removed the old rivets and installed the new ones...can't beat $20 to do all that!

It gets held in a vise in case you were wondering

I was going to go the brake relining kit route when I looked at the numbers. Ready made linings (4) $27.80. Buck your own kit $24.95. Diff. $2.85 or 71 cents each. Plus buy the punch anvil tool, $26.50 and a few spare Oops rivets. I would have to reline a bunch of brakes to even come close to breaking even. Plus my time and labor. There's only one person cheap enough to save 71 cents and I'll see him at KVIS in Sept. [;)]

I stand corrected...yes you heard correctly. I was under the impression that the pads were "ready to go" and did not require riveting...already riveted to the backing plate. When I got to Corona Spruce only to find out the pads I ordered were only the pads and rivets ? If you buy the "kit" (4) pads and rivets in a "bag" you save about $3.00 over buying them individually. I will never try to be Scottish again. [B)]
