Post subject:  converting 600x 6 To 500 x 5 axles

I am trying to convert my wheels from exisitng 600 x 6 to 500 x 5
wheels. My 600 x 6 wheels have a axle diameter of 1 1/2 inches.
My 500 x 5 have a diameter of 1 1/4 inches. I have tried to attach
a photo of my existing gear bolt pattern, but have not succeeded.
Can anyone help how to attach the photo??
The axles I have with the 500 x 5 are on a small square pattern.
Can anybody help or have any suggestions.
Bill photo is on page 57

To insert a photo, edit your post and click the paperclip in between "Attach Photo" and "Insert an image file", a pop up will appear, select the pic you want and click "insert"

Hummm? Not the plans built hub that came welded on my gear. I don't remember seeing an axel with this bolt pattern in any catalog I have ?

Will you guys please send me a note and tell me exactly what you are trying to do, and how you are doing it?

Not sure why you are trying to upload an image as a zip file.

I understand some guys are having difficulties uploading pics, if you tell me the error message I can get to the bottom of it.

Thank you very much for looking. I feel the builder must have made his own gear.
I quess I have a problem and will have to fabricate new axles. Thanks again.

Bill: If you have a pic of the actual axel/wheel assembly, maybe someone that worked on the Los Angeles class of airships [:0], might have an idea with what we're dealing with...just kidding about the Air Ship part ! You might be able to get a welder to weld on the "plans part" of the hub so you can use the "store bought" bolt on axels. I am not a welder, so not quite sure what's involved with doing that. I would be interested in what type of wheel/brake assembly goes on that round hub of yours...no lack of bolts to hold it on ! [:p]

My first thought when I saw the pic of the hub was that the builder had a "surplus" wheel/axel/hub that he could use on the A/C. It must have worked ? Reason for changing it out ? No avail. parts ?
