I am the new owner of T-18 N9MR.
The plane was flown to Indiana from Delaware over the last weekend in the smoothest sky's over the greatest distance I've had the pleasure to experience. I'm writing about the tailwheel. This T-18 is equipped with the Hague tailwheel. It is a center locking/full swivel assy. Unlocking requires pushing the stick forward to unlock. Steering is solely with the brakes. While I find this arrangement helpful when landing it requires much management when taxiing and allot of break pressure if taxiing to fast. I imagine I'll go through a set of breaks in no time. This plane has been based on grass and now hard surface at HUF. The tail spring is 5/8" rod. I'm considering changing to a steerable tailwheel looking at the Aviation Products tailwheels as I understand these are used on our birds. I see from their web site a number of variations are available. Any guidance at this point would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Keith

Double fork with upgraded bearings on my S-18 . The bearings that come with the wheel are not worth a crap , but the rest of the wheel assembly is good . Spruce sells the upgraded bearings , along with the AP tail wheel .

We do sell the tailwheels, springs and any other part of the kit. Or you can order direct from Karen at API. The part number is 6135, assuming you have a 5/8 inch, 10 degree tapered rod spring.

We sell Matco brakes and wheels for main wheels. We stock the AP tail wheel set up to go on the Trusty spring kit.
I'm in desperate need to update the website.

Thank you everyone for your help.
Spruce is out of stock.
I visited the the Thorp Central site and need help finding the tail wheels. Or is calling the best?
I also visited the API web site, looked at the tail wheels, but don't see an order form.
Must they be called also?
Thanks again
