Has anyone tried the Aircraft Extras weldless handles, or done anything similar for easier cockpit entry and exit?

These babies go through 5/16" holes in the aft side of the roll bar, and are secured with 10-32 screws through the front side. Seems like a good idea to me.

Hi Dick,

Didn't the old Volkswagen beetles have handles like that on the dash. I think we used to call them "chicken handles". I wouldn't put one on the pilot side because I would want him holding the controls and not holding the "chicken bar".

Jim :-)

I've used a few items from aircraft extra over the years (streamlined fuel vent) and even considered the hand holds, but for some reason I did not use them ? ??? I would have to look at the roll bar again, I think they would be installed below the center line of the roll bar and I thought that would compromise the intergity of the bar ? There may have been a clearance issue with the canopy closed ? This was a few years back when I looked into them. I too that it was a good idea ! ;) Just didn't pull the trigger . O0

I think these would be a head banger getting in and out. I flew some young eagles Saturday and while they had no problem getting out, I also took two of the mom's for rides and one of them hit the roll bar with her head right about where the handle would be.
