Down and safe back in SLC - whew!! - if you look closely at that four ship photo, you'll note that no one's wings are level - I felt I was getting knocked around like a cork in a hot tub. I felt I did rather well flying #2 in our Saturday flight, but was significantly humbled in the Sunday morning sortie. As Tony says, on Sunday I was so focused on maintaining station and collision avoidance, that my brain became sufficiently taxed and the rest of the flight was a mishmash of undisciplined maneuvers on my part. In short I became a little spooked and played it safe as I had some outside room as #4. This resulted in my rejoins as being either "low" acute or low sucked, focusing less on the correct line and more on not hitting the three airplanes in front - a noble goal to be sure, but you have to do both. As I thought this through on the way home yesterday, I realized I probably should have recognized my condition at the time and called knock it off and asked to be cleared off to a orbit at a safe altitude to clear my head and refocus. Lesson learned.
Howard Ginn described it best - Like drinking from a fire hose.
Having said all that, a great time and I learned a ton, further energizing me to improve my flying (or lack thereof) skills and staying safe. Tony and Starr were fantastic hosts with fun kids and I was very glad I went.
Many thanks to Cubes and Ginsu for the professorial guidance, and it was great meeting new friends and seeing old ones.
Cheers,

Well, the guys did great. It is a demanding, perishable skill. Lots of good learning with the egos left at the door. Tony's place is simply awesome. I'm jealous. Time to start really planning for Osh. I have an idea of what I'd like to do, but if anyone has suggestions, sing out.

Other than spending too much money on airplane stuff and drinking too much....I was referring to the flyby. I have no idea how much time we have. My plan was 2 by 2 formation take offs, rejoin, one pass in fingertip, split #4 off, make a three ship Vic pass as slow as practical as #4 zips by at redline. Then do it again in close trail, rejoin and pitchout and land. And better ideas?

I like it . Need training . The only T-18 form flight under my seat belt has been a 20 minute 2 ship and 2 minute brief with Bob Highley from Cooper's BBQ back to Gillespie...BOOM !

Dash 2 (NX115RX) will be arriving on Friday around 1200 hours...WX permitting . Departing Sunday A.M. ? Any room that is available I will take . I once shared an Airline Crash pad that had a Captain sleeping in a closet (no it was not a SW pilot ?) , so any soft surface is good . ;) If Fraser or Homey is full up then the Motel 6 is good as is the Women's Prison ! :o Just let me know so I can book it . C:-)
