It has the rounded firewall like the ones being built in Atlanta years ago by Martin Marrietta workers.

Yep, that one's been offered up for sale for going on 5 years now. No one seems to want it.

This is a special one!

-fuselage look longer?
-is it a 4 places or 2+2 T-18?
-I see no flaps on the center section or on the photos?

Somebody has more info about this project?
A good start for a second Thorp project put a lot of road between Florida to Montreal!

I believe you will find this is an old Thorp. It was built back when JT had not finished the plans and the builders at Martin Marrietta were building faster than John was drawing the plans. So, they made up there own drawings, hence the rounded fuselage and no flaps. The very early Thorps did not have flaps. There use to be one here at Plant City Airport several years ago. I think this would be more than a project, maybe a donor for some one.

Excellent Bill!
Do you know if it's a four place aircraft or is just the canopy was "enlarge" the fuselage?

It is a two place, the canopy design makes it look longer. You have to remember that this was before builders started enclosing the cockpit and canopy plastic was available.

I stopped by and looked at that project and it's not worth anything more than scrap. The dimensions are not per plans meaning the wings attach points are more than an inch off from standard to match the wider fuselage they built. The rudder had a couple of loose rivets in it and the horizontal stab. is closed up and I doubt it has the doubler in it.
