I bought the tail section of a T18, and with it came a trim system....I assume for the elevator trim tab. Thing is, I cant visualize how it was installed, and more importantly, is this an inferior/unsafe system?

Looks more like a flap motor setup. What is the range of motion and time stop to stop at 12-14 volts?

hooked to a 12 volt battery, it moves 2.5" from fully extended to fully retracted in 5 seconds.

I would say flaps ? ??? Flap cables hooked up to the two metal straps wrapped around the gizmo with what looks like two roller bearings ? ::)

It looks like a Cessna flap motor and from the configuration as Rich says is for the flaps. The 2.5" travel will give about 35 degree flaps and the retraction speed is about right at 5 seconds. Sure do like the "adell" clamps

No question. ... electric flaps. Cables attached to the adel clamps. The rollers are there react the rotation of the jack-screw. Not a bad solution for the day.

Here is the tail section I bought from the guy (in Minnesota). He either didn't know or wouldn't tell me the n # of the plane it came off of. Anyone recognize the paint job?

Derek, I think I went to NORTH DAKOTA to pick up this tail, not Minnesota...I stopped in MN on the way home. I just cant recall the little airport in ND I flew into where I got the tail. N5GL was registered in North Dakota.

Just make sure the horizontal has the service bulletin mods that Lee has on the website.
