Anyone tried to located a source for the self-aligning bearing on the jack screw? I hope no one is using the standard type - it needs to move a little. Drawing #701 calls for Fafnir K55. 3/8" ID, 7/8" OD, 1/4" Wide. Mine has axial play which of course shows up on the tabs (not good). I've heard some put a nylon shim behind the head of the screw, but would rather get a new bearing. I'm workin hard at all the rest too. Thanks in advance...

Albuquerque

Les I just got one from Aircraft Spruce. You still need a shim behind the new one, there is about .030 inch axial play in the new one.

Les,

Shimming, usually with a thin disc cut from plastic, has been necessary "forever". A new bearing will not eliminate the small amount of axial play.

I bought a couple from a guy in BC who had a bunch of a/c surplus inventory. That was three years ago. Not sure if he's still around. His company was Aero Dynamic Solutions, I think.
