Pictures of my progress. I made my tab just like the stabilator tabs. I need to dimple and prime everything. When I get the actuator I will build the horn, linkage and mount. Lots of cool things here that could be useful for our trim systems, or flaps. www.servocity.com Actuators for flaps, gearmotors, pullys and belts, chains and sprockets, small rod ends and linkages for aileron trim. |

Just received my PQ12s for the aileron and rudder trim. I guess I should have ordered the controller (LAC). What is the set up guys are using? If I get a controller for each, can I just run wire to the cockpit, or do you need something else. im not much of an electrical guy. |

PS. I wish I thought of using balsa wood in the ends. It took me 3 tries to cut and bend those tiny little ribs for the trim tab. Good idea Jeff!! |

Cubes, No need for controller. Limit switches are built in. You need two wires going to the servo to pin 2 and 3. Tell me what kind of switch you are using and I will make you a diagram. I am using a Ray Allen stick grip that has two switches. Common on both switches hooks to pin 2 and 3 on the actuator. Normally closed on both switches goes to ground. Normally open on both switches go to power. Jeff |

Jeff, I do not have a stick grip yet. Its on the Osh buy list. I must be missing something. My servos showed up with just the servo. They have a ribbon, pigtail. It looks to be something you attach to a computer board. There are no pins. Help! |

I don't have my servo yet. I have seen pictures of the ribbon lead. I was going to figure something out when i got it. Can it be opened to put real wires on it? |

The leading edge of the tab can be sloped, this keeps the control rod out of the air stream and it attatches to the leading edge of the tab. When finished, there are no control rods to be seen...Dan |

I am not an electron guy, but I think if you surf the surplus/electronic supply places you can probably buy an adapter plug that morfs into wires from the ribbon. Try Mouser, Allied electronics or Willys electronic supply. How about the place you bought the servo from ? That would be too easy and only a caveman could do it. RB |

My actuator came with a connector that the ribbon slid into and had pins that can easily be soldered to on the other side. The ribbon also has small holes in each strand that wire could be slid trough and soldered kind of like it would be done on a printed circuit board. |

I'm undecided on how I am going to make the connections for good. As far as what goes where strand 2 & 3 are the ones that make it work ( if looking at the contact side of the ribbon with the contacts up and the actuator dangling it would be from the left side of the ribbon) power to 2 and ground to 3 makes it extend and simply reverse that to retract or vice versa. |
