What would you look for on the flaps that would be the cause of a heavy wing?

Use a digital level. Measure each wing and flap panel on the inboard edge and outboard. Then deploy the flaps and do it again. It will be telling.

I made a right wing flap trim device as a companion to the left wing device on the flap lever on my airplane (manual flaps). it consists of a piece of aluminum tubing 1 1/2 inches long which has a weld buildup shaped into a wedge on the rear with the thin part of the wedge facing aft. With the left side screw backed all the way off, I slide the wedge as far as needed rearward to slightly lift the flap handle, which lowers only the right flap slightly. I have only needed to use this when I had a heavy person in the right seat. My airplane is slightly left wing heavy solo at low speeds. At cruise, it flies wings level with the left side flap screw backed off all the way (solo flight). It is slightly right wing heavy with a heavier passenger. Easy fix for birds that have manual flaps.

thats good info, I'll have to put that in my bag of tricks. I do have electric trim, but good stuff to think about none the less.
