i have to let you all know that Tom has finally taken that last flight to the West. He was in declining health for the last year and just was worn out, having lived into his mid 80s. He was a real THORP PILOT and I know that he flew well over 1000 hrs and got full use out of his Thorp and enjoyed flying it and visiting the many venues and friends coast to coast. He was my mentor, letting me get 10 Hrs flight in his plane prior to my first flight in my own. He will be well missed here in the Great NW and I wish him clear skies and fair winds.

Ahh man. Sorry to hear that. Tom was the guy who made me rethink this little bird. He flew it anywhere, anytime.

That is sad news . I met Tom at a few West coast T-18 events and he even came to my house for a short visit to see my still unfinished S-18 project .

That is very sad news, Paul. I remember when Tom bought Rich Snelson's "black & white". You're right, he really flew the heck out of that airplane, in all kinds of weather. He was a really nice man... a gentleman. This picture was taken in 2005 - one of the times he flew the Thorp through Denver. We had a good time with him... that's myself, Tom, and my best friend Dean Cochran who "flew West" in 2011.

Sorry to hear that Paul,

Tom was the one who introduced us. He helped me several times and was a swell guy. I'll always remember a very wonderful visit when I was there.

Paul, I'm really sorry to hear about Tom. Haven't talked to him in a while an never knew he was in poor health. My prayers go out to all of his family. I will take good care of his Thorp. I knew he loved flying it.
