With my PA-20 and a Lycoming 0-290D I burn 7.5 for 130mph IAS.
I have my 0-320 with 750 smoh and I plan 8.5 GPH on my Thorp. I question me sometimes if I sale my 320 and buy another 290 for my T-18, or sale my Pacer 290 and buy a 320 for my Piper. Or just swap both plane engine...please doctor help me :o :o :o

I like this thread I found lot of good information here!!!

I burn about 6.7-6.8GPH running LOP. I run the engine at 2200 rpm and 24.5".The engine is an IO-320 D1A with a CSP and down low I typically see about 153 mph. Running at 8 gph, I see 158-160 mph indicated at the same settings. At 25 squared, I see 170+ mph indicated and 8.5-8.8 GPH.

Thx for asking, Dan! If I can get the engine running before the snow flies, my GPH will increase slightly, but I don't see the MPG going up any time soon.
