Has anyone ever used folding boat seats for the t-18? There are some great ones out there. Any thoughts?

I think that the cushion would be way too thick. My seats have about 1/2" of foam on the bottom pan and about 1" on the back and they are only marginally OK. Since the subject has come up I would love to see how some of you tall, long legged folks deal with this; I thought maybe a concave seat pan that drops your (actually my :) ) butt into the space under the seat by even an inch would be wonderful....

That was my concern.... the boat seats seem way to to thick... However, after looking around I found some seats that have concaved seats. See this site: http://www.iboats.com/Centric-II-Seatin ... _id.470242

These seats are still a little wide, but maybe a little more hunting could reveal something that would work

Dean - I, too have looked some alternate seats - some of the racing seat vendors have some keaster komfort cool stuff as well - the problem is width - having said that, if you are long of leg and short of trunk with a svelt keaster, some I have seen look good on paper and may work if they are bolstered up and the seat sides went over the center tunnel but would still be tuff to insert into the available seat width. My former, and now Dick's plane had free floating seats without the folding mechanism per plans - I was comfortable with that as it is the restrant system that keeps everything in place anyway, and it made for easy removal of the seats and the separate seat backs for maintenance. Check the dimensions on the seats and see if they can fit.

The boat seats that were listed on the posted website were very expensive compared to the $45-50.00 I paid at Best Buy a few years ago. Besides the width, they were also heavy so they went back in favor of homemade.
