Post subject:  Center Wing Hi Shear Installation in upper spar cap channel

What is a good technique for driving the hi shear rivets used to attach the wing attach brackets and control bracketry to the main beam? Is there an offset rivet set available to get up under the channel or do I need to make one or ?

Use an AN3 bolt instead.

Thanks Lee,

I may not have been very clear on my question. I am looking at the 556 walking beam mounting bracket and the 522 wing attach fitting on center wing section main beam for attaching wing to fuselage shown with countersunk hi shears to avoid interference at the fuselage bulkhead interface to wing. If there is a substitute for the countersunk hi shears that would be good; otherwise, I am somewhat perplexed as how to set the hi shears in the U channel portion of the center section upper spar cap and was hoping not to re-invent the wheel.

Sorry, I understand now. Use countersunk 10/32 ms screws.

Use proper grip/length, but ms screws/an bolts and high shears are interchangeable.

Ah... I had not made the connection between ms screws and an bolts. Screws will definitely simplify the concept.
Thanks

Where were you suggesting AN 3 bolts could be used.
In the two pics I have high sheers installed on most of the attach points on the beam except for the wing ribs .
Can I use bolts instead of high sheers to attach the wing ribs... I know you said " interchangeable" but these are thin sheetmetal.

Previous builders substituted AN hardware in lieu of Hi-Shears through out the wing.

Thanks I have access to AN bolts, but high sheer rivits are harder to come by... plus I have nothing to set them.

You can use regular rivets to attach wing ribs to the spar. Is that where you are talking about? Just make sure they are not dash 0.

Disregard last. I figured out where you were talking about.
