Decided to try something different this year with regard to air shows . After filling out a butt l _ _ d of govt. paperwork they gave me permission to fly into KNKX and be a static display . The WX finally let me in and Sil got our vendor pass and finally made it thru all the security check points in the car . They parked me next to 3 RV's on the ramp and we were all good for the next three days . Come to find out this was the first year they allowed civilian experimental aircraft at the event . They plan to extend that offer for future events . All the usual suspects were there representing the military including the F-35 . The F-35 looked good on the ground , but in the air all it did was make NOISE especially in the vertical mode . To me the F-16 stole the show (except for the Red Arrows and the Blues) that aircraft can maneuver ! All in all a good show . The only pain in the ass were the dirty diaper 7 year old's that want to bend metal when the touch your aircraft and the Jethroe Bodine parents that have naught for naught common sense ! The WX was especially good with an overcast that kept the temps moderate and not the usual 90+ degrees on the ramp !
If you want to attend just go to the MCAS Miramar Air Show web site and click on civilian static displays . The last word I got was they are accepting application starting in March of 2020 .

As a side note I'll have to tell my encounter with the FAA during my ramp check regarding the use of the word EXPERIMENTAL on my aircraft at the Sedona fly in .

Of course the F-16 was the star of the show. As for the formation teams, harumph.

The F16 is a cute little airshow machine. As far as combat capabilities...not so much.

I like the fact that I was the only T-18 at the world's largest military air show ! I also like the F-15 , but sad to say none at the show ?

Knowing that 50 sailors go to sea, and 25 couples return, She Who Eye Wership forbids anything marine oriented.
