I recently got my Basic Med physical without issue. The AME mentioned and others who are concerned about lawsuits are worrying needlessly. The fact is that all they are doing is saying that on the date of the physical, the patient was fit to fly. Not 6 months later, not even a day later, just at that moment in time.

Anyone can sue, for any reason, a lot of times without validity. Unfortunately, the possibility of being sued as a medical practitioner is a fact of life these days. If a physician is afraid of being sued, perhaps they need to get out of treating people and work in a lab where the risks are less...

I agree. I also believe that there may be some "fear-mongering" going on with some AME's and their professional organization, perhaps saying they're ok with the change then working behind the scenes, hoping it will fail. People who may be adversly affected by change usually don't like to see their little world disrupted.

Dr. Granny Clampett sounds better all the time for a Basic Med Exam ! ??? Taking her buzzard gizzards and owl snout potions before the exam should get me thru it ! :o
