Well, I have removed my panel for yet another panel design. Since removing my old panel, I replaced it with a temporary panel that has the minimum steam gauges required for flight. I use a handheld radio for comms. I have been flying this way for the last several flights. I have realized I miss flying this way. I now look out the window all the time so I can take in the view, I judge my climbs, descents, level flight by the panel/horizon, etc. I forgot how nice it is to fly looking out side for all your references and flat scenic out enjoyment.

Now i must admit, I am putting all my nav/coms, gps, etc., back in my plane with the new panel, but I should try and not get so caught up at looking at the inside of the plane.

That's good advice Ryan. One of the things with glass panels can be that issue. We now have a couple of generations raised with colorful screens & keypads as their primary source of entertainment. Pilots are not immune to that siren call, as we all know. Wonderful source of information - wonderful source of distraction. I'm still not ashamed to admit that I'm a steam gauge guy, but then again as I've said before - I'm still waiting to until they perfect them to buy a color tv. ::)

I'm still steam gauging flight - My eyes skip back and forth over the Dynon between the ASI and the Alt and occasionally to the ball to keep my feet honest. I keep hoping that D10A will suddenly start showing commercial free episodes of 12 O'Clock High.....or maybe the Seinfeld "Master of My Domain" episode.....
