Look what I installed last night. Thanks Dave Read for telling me about your landing lights. Superbriteleds.com p/n AUX-10W-R25B (Auxiliary light, 10 watt, 25 degree spot beam, black). $49.95 ea.
Will finish the electrical installation this weekend. Tony
PS - Happy B-day, Bill W.

Tony, that looks good. that really pushed me over the edge on my decision to try the cowl inlet first. I would like to hear a night time pirep too.

Jim, that looks good too. I like the idea of a light in the wing and/or in the cowl as the sexiest options (in my opinion). But, I cant bring myself to put a blade to the wing or cowl and start cutting. I enjoy these little tinkering projects that I can accomplish while still having a flyable airplane. I can see myself making a bad cut in a wing (or cowl)....I would be devastated.

I put the led lights Tony mentioned in the wing gap covers. That way if I didn't like them I have only messed up the gap covers. I have a very short video that shows how they work. You can see the runway numbers and centerline when you get fairly close. I had a 75w halogen in the right cowl inlet before, never had a problem with reflection off the prop.

well, after all that heartburn about a push pull cable, I went out to the plane this afternoon and installed landing lights in the cowling inlets. I went and flew and there was no ill effects. I put in four 55W lights, two in each cowl inlet. My 60Amp B&C Alternator will earn her money during night landings!

Interesting set-up. Are you installed 2 on each side or just on the right side of the cowl and
are you routing the electrical wire on the top of the engine or along the valve cover?
