When the fuel trucks line up to pump the fuel how much do you tell them to put in ? ??? Not even an Airline Pilot could afford to fill this beast up ! :o Cost per hour is off the scale ! :P I would like to get a tour of one . 8)

I have heard from some of my S-3 Navy Buddies that the noise from the counter rotating props is off the scale ! :o Incredible noise and vibration . ??? I can just imagine the noise inside the AC ! ::) From my research on the AC there is NO head/LAV on board the AC ? :P I guess in flight meals are not an option ? >:(

This an aircraft that is 1960 era rivets and can cruise a MACH .8 ! :o Not a jet , turbo prop ! ??? Not sure what the MTOW is , but it has to be HEAVY ! Did you notice how slow the gear retracted and extended ! :P The maintenance to keep this large AC flying had to be extensive !

Nice video, Rich.

The pitch on those blades looks to be about 30 ft!

And I thought my Mazda Rotary powered RV-8 was the loudest! :o :P
No Contest!! I yield the floor!
Besides, I added a muffler, which added 12 pounds and cost about 8-10 MPH. :P

I believe it is the world's fastest propeller driven aircraft ? :o Mach .8 . Not sure how long it could maintain that speed ? :P Having been on a Russian transport ( I got a tour . He toured my Navy C-9B and I toured his 3 engine Russian VIP transport) during a fuel stop in Prague , I can tell you they build them heavy and they build them with old technology ! :o The only new avionics in the AC was a single Collins VHF radio . The rest of the gear was 1950 era . Coffee grinder ADF , hooded radar scope , etc. The funny thing was you entered the AC thru the rear much like a 727 , but MUCH smaller . 2 engines mounted on the tail and a 3rd engine mounted thru the tail just like a 727 . You had to "duck" down to make it up the rear ramp . The real big surprise (other than the cockpit) was the cabin area in this VIP transport . The seats were wicker basket type seats ! They faced each other with a very small table between the seats ! :o

The jet also had a "straight wing" and big balloon tires .l I assume to land on dirt/gravel strips . ??? May have been a YAK 40 ?

Do I hear any complaints about traveling on SWA ?
