It's with great sadness that I report the passing of Richard Brandiger, my friend & long-time T-18 builder, after a terrible fight with cancer. He was an inspiration during the ordeal with his cheerfulness and bravery. It truly amazed me. Besides building his own T-18, he was the keeper of "Green Apples", a highly modified V-tailed version, named so by Gale Abels of Boulder, Colorado, the builder. Richard and his wife, Kathy, along with fellow T-18 builder Ken Post & his wife, hosted a wonderful Thorp fly-in at Rapid City, South Dakota. Kathy asks that if you wish to send a remembrance, to please send it to the Wounded Warriors Project. His obituary can be viewed here:

Sad to hear. Richard was a great ambassador for experimental aircraft. He was the best and most conscientious government/FAA employee I have ever met.

That was a great obituary. I was fortunate to have known Richard. He was a valued source of wisdom.
