I can think of at least 2 of our members who will have something to say about this.

In case you missed it, he made that landing at Elizabeth City. I'll be giving tours in June...

Two comments. First, #3 needs a hot steaming cup of shut the F@#K up!! Second, nice use of oxygen. I can't imagine doing this for real. I landed 2 different eagles on fire and one with locked brakes. I'd take any of those over this.

And one of those engine fires in the eagle was landed at Elizabeth City. Nice place, funny story.

I'll tell you over a beer sometime. You'll get a kick out of it. Especially when the Pratt-Whitney engineer accused me of "doing something" to his motor to make it lite the oil on fire.

I've landed engine out 9 times, twice while drinking a cup of coffee. Of course, the other three were still working. [:)]

I landed my Sky Scooter (T211) once on a golf course in Galesburg, Illinois after I ran it out of gas. I called Mr. Thorp from the golf course shop to get advice on fuel as the only available around was automotive. In my defense, if there can be a defense for something as dumb as running out of gas, is that the Sky Scooter fuel gauge was on the bulkhead behind your head, and I hadn't accounted for a small fuel leak out of the O ring on the drain that had been left unsealed because of a little piece of dirt. I had the the Galesburg airport in sight, but when the fuel pressure dropped and I looked at the large sprawling rock quarry between me and the field I opted for a long fairway into the wind. The engine quit on roll out. Mr. Thorp was not too impressed with my excuse to say the least!
