Phil your initial photos showed the spinner off ... did you see a bulkhead in the spinner? I'm 99% sure you do not have one. Cubes has nice brand new backplates ... the one you have is 40+ years old .. it had a pretty good run!

Bulkhead in the spinner, negative. I agree, 40+ years, no complaints. I have reached out to Cubes via this forum, his website, and by phone. I'm sure he's a busy boy and will get back to me when able. Thanks.

For the benefit of everyone else, Philip and I have connected after I was out of pocket attending two funerals.
This plane did not have a forward bulkhead. I really do not recommend flying like that. I know it has been done in the past. But this is a common result. He was lucky that he did a diligent preflight and caught this. Losing a spinner in flight can cause aircraft damage when it departs.

I’ll second that ... happened to me years back. Thought I was going to shake the motor off it’s mount.

What Jim said. What Lee said. And really, I don't know how long it was like that, just lucky I caught it before it went haywire. I am purchasing both fore and aft bulkheads from Mr. Grahn. My A&P will do the prop pulling, match drilling, nutplates, etc. Thanks much, all.

I have one of the original Brock spinners, backing plate and one of Cubes fwd bulkheads. The spinner was welded by the guy in Wi. that welds spinners (cost me around $400.00) Make me a offer for the set.
