Guys,
I've created a new Category "Thorp 50th Anniversary" this will last for the next year. Let's use that area to plan for the big events. I'm keeping quiet about next year but come January 1st we need to start rolling on the Golden Jubilee. So far it looks like we're going to have a big showing at OSH. As far as Sun n Fun goes I can guarantee I'll be bringing a Thorp there one way or another ... I hope those east of the Rockies will do the same.

I plan on flying my T-18 to S&F as well as Oskosh, it will be the first time in nearly 20 years for the big one!

Any thought of a "Banner" to post by our group at OSH for the 50th / It could also be used for other Fly In's during the year of the 50th .

" 50TH ANNIVERSARY FOR THE THORP T-18" . Or words to that effect . I think it would add a touch of class for the group . I am pretty sure someone has a contact in the banner/flag industry that could help us out . Wouldn't need to be big , just something we could put on a couple of poles and anchor in the ground . Add the Forum web site to the banner to pub. the group . A photo of Fraser would certainly attract attention .

I would kick in a few bucks to make it happen .

Excellent idea RB!

Steve, great to hear ... More people need to see your airplane. It's a fine ambassador for the Thorp design!

On another note, I spent a few hours with Tony S from New Zealand on Tuesday. He's trying to make osh next year ... For those that are on the fence about Oshkosh, this is your barometer ... Here's a guy who's willing to travel halfway around the globe to make it ... No excuses guys!!!

Well...now that I have your attention I think a data plaque (the kind you see in front of War Birds/Antique aircraft) that tells the story of the aircraft/ builder. A tribute to JT seems in order. The pic of him lifting the tail of his aircraft along with all the specs of the T-18 would be easy to do. Print out a large copy and laminate it , glue it to an aluminum plate and post it with the Banner . BOOM ! O0

What do you mean? The kind of plaque you see in a museum?
Those planes are so sad. Too valuable to fly. :-[
I suggest that any comment on said plaque clearly state that this design is up to date and meets current kit offerings toe to toe!

What I meant to say was...a story board with a pic of John Thorp and all the stats for the AC listed on it . Speed, weight, fuel capacity , engine requirement , etc.
