Bob and I flew over to Kissimme and met Scott as he finished up his tail wheel endorsement prior to flying his Thorp.

And here I thought Champ time was sufficient. Now I'm scared.

And now for the rest of the story.......

It was a beautiful fall day in central France(Florida). I took off from my base for morning maneuvers climbed up to altitude to keep watch for German fighters. On my return to base, I heard the call.......fighters 18 miles out to the southwest. Sure enough it was a pair of homebuilt fighters headed towards my base at Kississme (pronounced kiss-a-me in French). They were no doubt sent to bomb and strafe the mouse ear factory at Disney. I rolled inverted into a split s from 8k and pulled out doing over 300k. I raced back towards home but the little fighters were just too fast.....they had already reached the base and done their damage. Luckily they were friendly and invited us out for lunch and dinner. In usual Bob and Bill form.....the place looked awful........and was awesome. Garys oyster bar was great as was the company. Lucky to have such great friends all over this great country. Thanks to all of our veterans. Yeeeeee Haaaa the Mustang was awesome.....light and balanced controlls

Awesome!! I flew that old gal as a present from my wife a few years back. We had a ball. "Trucks on a road with a big heavy load..." IP got a lil nervous when the strafing began.
