On my flying Thorp, I remember joggling the WL 42 longeron angles back where the stabilator attachment fittings are. I can't find a reference to that in drawing. Any help on where to look would be great.

Bob, the -575 bulkhead drawing shows a 0.125" joggle in the bulkhead for the WL 42 stringer and the 584-1 flange which are both 0.063" in thickness. So I guess that the WL 42 stringer would be joggled 0.063" for the -584 fitting. The WL 42 stringer is called out on 580-3 L&R but my -580 drawing has no mention of a joggle in the WL 42 stringer. Hopefully this is of some help. |

Hi Bob, hi guys. Dwg 575 specs .125” joggle in the -1 bulkhead for this. Note there are three different joggles in that area. It’s easy to do in sheet metal. That accounts for the single 1/16” thickness of the leg on the fitting and the 1/16” longeron. You won’t have to joggle the longeron. I wouldn’t attempt it since I doubt you could get the remaining length straight again. I remember putting a joggle in R & L longerons against the firewall. Though possible, it was difficult enough. The third joggle in the corner is for the flange on the turtle deck skin. Hope this helps.
