Old people use them to find stuff, young people use them to sit on.

I tried to call Navworx Friday and was not able to get through. I wanted to talk to them on when they thought they may have things worked out with the feds. It sounds like it may be better to wait a little longer to see what comes on the market.

Phil,

If you check out their website with the link I posted above, it's explained that their phone lines have been overwhelmed by volume, & explains when a resolution is expected. They're expecting an FAA decision on or before December 20, and have committed to making it right for their customers regardless of which way it goes.

Well, a lot has happened since that post... so much for "making it right for their customers regardless of which way it goes" ... NavWorx just went out of business, and Dallas Avionics is no longer having anything to do with them. What a sad saga. I was an "early adopter" and bought one of their ADS600-EXP units at OSH a few years ago. I guess it's worth exactly nothing now. I learned a good lesson. Anyway, I have one of the uAvionix ECHO units in my new bird. It's a great unit, and the company seems strong and well-established.

I got an e-mail this morning from Dallas Avionics stating same, guess I'm now in the market for a different ADS-B solution. My ADS600-EXP box has been working flawlessly, checked with the FAA at Oshkosh this year and no errors were showing in their database. I going to have a look at the uAvionix echo unit.

I went to the far other end of the scale and bought a Garmin GTX 345ES. After a lot of major installation issues and expence, it flunked the rebate flight test the first time. It showed airborne while on the ground. FAA no like. Seems you have to taxi no faster than a slow walk to not trigger in flight mode. After a lot of brake dragging, I got a "pass" notification and all is finally well. Also separatly got a notice that my Ameriking ELT is no longer acceptable. Ouch!

Bob,
It's an opportunity ;D to a) upgrade to a 406 MHz ELT and b) help the economy 8) .

I feel your pain, I did it 5 years ago when my AmeriKing self destructed. I installed an ACK E-04, the only down side is the replacement battery is $139 every 5 years.

Sigh, it is/was my 406 upgrade.

Got another e-mail from Dallas Avionics yesterday afternoon, it said:

"Dallas Avionics, Inc./ADS-B Customers,

In an effort to ease the burden of existing NavWorx customers, Dallas Avionics, Inc. is currently evaluating multiple replacement ADS-B systems.

We anticipate offering a "special offer" specifically to replace AD affected systems. Look for our announcement of new system/replacement in the coming few weeks."

That said, I'm not in a "panic" yet, I believe I have till mid Jan to "fix" the problem with the Navworx unit. I'm going to wait to see what Dallas Avionics has to offer.

The uAvionix Echo unit looks really good, still use my King KT76A transponder and I already have a UAT antenna on the bottom of the aircraft.

Bruce, I think if you go with uAvionix you will have two transponder antennas , I do, one for the GTX327 and the other for the UAT Echo

Bill,
I already have two antennas, one for the King xpndr and one for the Navworx (which needs to be replaced).

Does anyone have experience with the Stratus location? Is it sensitive to the roll bar? The installation instructions say to keep the leads less than 3 feet. I'm trying to find a mounting location.
