						 Hi Dick,
  From what I understand, they may have been added to prevent the infamous "bunt" on final approach. There have been a number of other fixes to prevent this from happening. I found that using only 30 degrees flap when solo prevents this with my plane. I did add VG's to the outer panels and vertical tail of my plane. The ones on the vertical tail eliminate most of the fancy footwork I had to do previously. The ones on the outer wing panels really tame the stall and improve low speed control when landing and they did not affect cruise speeds.
