Yeah, that's the aluminum tube that goes through the lightening holes in the RV wing. Gets about 8-9 gallons total. The RV tanks won't fit the T-18.

Couple reasons that's not a good fit for the T-18.

1.) the diameter of the tube would be significantly less in the T-18 (RV's wing is fatter)
2.) T-18 has the dihedral break outboard this would require 4 tanks total.
3.) If you did the same setup in the Thorp here's what you'd get. Due to the shorter wing and slimmer wing profile here's what you'd get in fuel <4> 4 ft 3" dia tubes = 1.5^2 * 4 * 4 * 12 = 1357 in^3

That ends up being 5.85 gallons total ... that's a lot of work for < 6 gallons.

This has been brought up before (aux fuel) but here are your options from simple to complex ...

1.) Buy gas in the Bahamas (they have it!)
2.) carry a gas can with you and fill your main up when you land.
3.) Baggage compartment tank (check the old NL's)
4.) Tom Hunters fuel pods (I have a set, they work great)
5.) build a new set of outboards and wet the wing.

If I were you, as you have an 0-290 I would K.I.S.S., throttle it back and arrive a few mins after your 0-360 RV pals. You have plenty of gas to tour the Bahamas.

Lee,
I made a 64 liter drum into a ferry tank, seating it on the
passenger seat. With sight gauge, Proper earth and fuel hoses.. Thats 2.25 hour extra fuel. Since most of the time i,m by my self it works in my case.
Regards. J.P
