A quick recap of the event in FL this year.
Overall a great week. Always something cool to see and this year did not let down.
My top 3 ...
1.) The XP-82 was in attendance, I spent over an hour dissecting that beautiful aircraft, truly an amazing restoration/recreation.
2.) Although I'm not a big 'airshow' person the Blue Angels are entertaining to say the least.
3.) The Gweduck was in there as well ... take a look https://www.gweduck.com ... talk about a homebuilt! A modern day composite Grumman Widgeonish amphibian .. very cool
Sun n Fun has reorganized the grounds in favor of allowing access to custom built aircraft during the airshow .. although the location seems at first GU (Geographically Undesirable) ... we quickly got used to it ... (so walking to your plane forces a walk through the war-birds ... not bad in my book).
The weather was great .. cool in the evening and warm during the day ... as always great to catch up with those in attendance .. we had 5 Thorps on the grounds.
The trip home reminded me of the value of not being on a set schedule, anyone who looked at the weather on Sunday would have saw that anything short of an SR-71/U2 was not making it across the Southern US. We flew from FL to Baton Rouge ... put the plane in a hangar booked a room downtown and watched the rain come down with a bottle of Pino and a slice of pie. The next morning we launched for a short flight home in time to make it to the office on schedule.
