Thanks for posting the info so far, Lee. I plan to be there all week, probably arriving Saturday depending on weather. This will be the 20th time for my T-18... not a record among this group by any means, but a nice round number.

FYI

Since I live so close to Oshkosh, my family has already (friday) set up camp on the grounds. My trailer is located in camp scholler at the south west corner of 56th and Lindbergh (same exact spot as last year).

Spent the night in the camper with our commune group of campers! I cant wait for the event to begin! We plan to get to EAA on Thursday wvening July 20th. See you all there!

Hey guys, I'm really looking forward to this also. First time for me since my only other time (1993). Flying this new bird there will be quite an experience. Planning to camp HBC so look for it there, and I'll be looking to me all of you in the T-18 group parking.

Well that settles it. Since Les will be taking his bird to KOSH- I nominate 48LK to be the "show" bird that Lee was requesting. Any seconds?

I have studied the Les' pictures and consider his plane a work or art. I third that motion!

Les,
Any chance we can talk you into parking your bird on the flight line? We always camp at OSH as well but I can promise you the experience is much more enjoyable when your plane is on the flightline and you camp in the proper campground. The facilities are better, better access to food, coffee in the morning entertainment at night, and HB camping is really just the back nine to the show. People rarely walk back there.

Oh and the OSH experience is much better when you're watching the show with your bird rather than sitting next to someone else's.

If you'd like we can stake you off a spot with us.

Hello Thorpies,

I plan to be in Osh this year with the hope of good weather along the way, since I am a fair weather pilot. Don't like the idea of looking for grass or tree limbs under my shoes while flying.

My plan is to fly in on Tuesday, stay until Friday or Saturday with weather cooperating. I too was planning on HBC but do like Lee's idea of parking on the flight line and have no idea where to park or drag my camping gear to. I will be bringing a friend who wishes to buy the Thorp I'm currently building.

Since this is my first to fly my Thorp in to Osh, a little instruction for idiots would be appreciated along with what windshield sign to display for the parking.

Don : Go to the FAA NOTAM for OSH . A MUST HAVE DOCUMENT !! ;) It has everything for getting into and out of OSH , including the required windscreen signs for the ground directors . :o I had my wife make up a small sprial binder with all the arrival and departure procedures , which I had open to the arrival in use . She also printed up in LARGE BOLD PRINT those required ground signs that were very easy to read . Head on a swivel , listen to other radio calls and be prepared for last minute changes from ATC . ::) BING , BANG ,BOOM ! So simple a Cave Dude can do it ! :P

You tube also has some useful videos on getting into and out of OSH done by average Joe pilots . 8)

Rich,

I grew up in a cave! Got the NOTAM for Osh and have familiarized with it. I had the same for Sun n' Fun. Have the approaches printed and in tablet with hard copies of parking venues. I should be ok, but always good to have more immoral support from those who have gone before me. Thanks!

Don the campground is called Camp Scholler. You can't miss it, it's about 50% of the acreage of the show. Park the plane on the flightline, walk to Homebuilt Headquarters (a few 100 ft from the Thorp parking). After you register your plane they have a shuttle service there that will drive you to the campground.
