More stuff to look at:

We have reserved seven room/suites at the Bluff House Resort on Green Turtle Cay, Abaco. (bluffhouse.com) Check it out, way cool. We are listed as "Thorp Flight" should you want to call them.

Rates all inclusive (tax, tags and title) are $287.99/night for the upper suites and $240.80 for the lower. These rates are quoted for a seven room package. Slightly higher if we end up with less. Minimum reservation fee is two nights; pay the rest when we get there. You may see lower quotes on some of the travel sites, but those normally do not include the various taxes. I believe we have the best deal you can get.

The way to get around Green Turtle is via golf cart. These go fast so consider reserving them when you make your reservation for the room. Also SCUBA and Bone Fishing slots go fast.

As we bumping up against Easter Weekend, we need to get going on our reservations. I will be working on mine soonest. Let me know if you have more questions.

I just made my reservation at the Bluff House, Abaco Bahamas. I talked to Summer (242) 365 4247 at the front desk and she had our group reservation in hand. Remember to tell them "Thorp Flight". You will most likely be charged the full rate for the first two days, which will be adjusted once we see how many actually show up. Cancellation policy is 30 days prior notice for a full refund. They can reserve golf carts when you book. They are four seaters, so we can buddy up. They can arrange other island activities, as well. They seem very excited we are coming and want us to have a great time.

Mike Z says those that have GoPros need to tune them up as there will be great opportunities for beach run flights, etc.

I made reservations today as well. I also have the radio license for myself and the airplane and the customs sticker. Now as soon as my cylinders come back from the shop I can try to get some time on the plane before we leave.

Reservations made, inquired about a golf cart they are going to get back to me, customs decal and radio station license ordered, passport renewal in the works. To do list to get the plane in tip top shape made. Praying for good weather between Seattle and Lakeland the first week of April. Bring on the rum, Arrrrrg

Bob or Bill, any suggestions for places to stay around Lakeland prior to departure?

Bruce,

Accommodations around Lakeland during Sun 'n Fun get a bit ridicules. Look in Plant City or Mulberry for better rates. As Bill and I are tied up as area chairmen for the fly-in, we are not much help with transportation. Suggest a car rental. Most of the others are campers and stay on site.

Glad your stuff is coming together. I finally navigated the radio license site. Turns out, I had one, but it was expired. The site kept wanting to spank me for letting it lapse. Finally got it, though.

I didn't know they expired. Are you talking about the license for an individual? We were recently required to get them, since we go oversees. I found mine from 1981 and they said it was good.

Cubes,
The aircraft license has a 10 year life span, the operator permit is life time, I've had mine since 1972, hopefully they can still read it.

Another tip from Bruce -- check your pilot's license for the words "English Proficient" on the back. Some plastic ones were printed without it. You need this endorsement for international flying.

A replacement certificate with "english proficient" endorsment can be ordered online from the FAA for $2.00, it takes about 2 weeks for you to receive it.
