So after two different conversations with different members of the Devonshire Motel (Husband and Wife no less, go figure) – the confusion is settled. Since the phone rate differs from the on-line rate the compromise is a set $70/night. $5 of one rate, $10 off the other. They (finally) wrote down that we are the T-18 Group so tell them that’s who you’re with. Ashi (the wife) is probably the best one to speak to.

We’ll have, or arrange, transpo if you need it. I might just hire the neighbor kid to be the DD/hotel runner. I thought Darcey would look good driving topless in the Z3 (or is that “driving in the topless Z3”? I’m an Engineer, not an English major) but with Cap’n Rich sitting on Fraser’s lap that may be a bit much for that little car. And this little town.

Tailwinds, Tony

Rosamond Fly-In Update

WEATHER: As promised to KVIS Dan, the weather is going to be good at the Rosamond Skypark. 63 degrees and winds at 10 or less. That’s 10 degrees warmer for Fraser & his Daughter Nikki, and 10 degrees cooler for Rich and others from San Diego (John Levi??). This whole corner of America will be nice this weekend.

PARKING: taxi East and we’ll park on my ramp, my neighbor’s ramp or the taxiway, as needed. Beats a long stroll from transient parking near the gas pump.

FUEL: 100LL is $4.79/gal (which is a helluva lot cheaper than gas in Germany/Amsterdam 2 weeks ago!)

LUNCH: at the Cantina (now called El Indio) on the field Sunday at 1300.

BEER/Drinks: There’s a fresh keg of TapIt IPA and the fridge is stocked with a good variety.

DINNER: brats, kraut, home-made potato salad and other fixin’s.

HANGAR: for those spending the night – your planes will be tucked away nicely in my neighbor’s brand-spanking new hangar.

OTHER STUFF:
When the flying is all done we may just pour something stronger to toast the T-18ers who have flown West this year – Eby, Cordova, Cresse and Hunter (if I missed someone please let me know).

I know of a Sky Scooter departing Central AZ and arriving Friday at noon (Grandma is coming a day early to see her Grandkids.)

Bring an extra layer so we can play outside a little longer before we move the party inside.

Rick Cresse, son of T-18 builder Larry Cresse (RIP), will have his Dad’s T-18 on display and For Sale. It’s a standard T-18 with an experimental O-320C1A. Airframe TT 312 hrs. TSO 9 hrs.

Fly Safe & Tailwinds,
Tony
