That is not correct, I believe KY Dam is always the weekend of Columbus Day. This year KY Dam is October 9th, 10th and 11th with early arrivals on the 8th.

Sorry fellas you are correct ... "... Always the second weekend in Oct" which does coincide with Columbus Day.

Which also coincides with AOPA's fly in gathering at Tullahoma this year. Would that be considered for a fly out- or formation fly by on Saturday. Maybe in addition to the fly down for fish fry.

Ok I'm thinking about going down to pick up my wings in FL and on my way back stopping at the KY Dam event.

My questions are being on a tight budget, where to stay or if someone would be willing to share a room or whatever for a new "Throper"?

My VERy tentative plans in my mind is that, I'm thinking about leaving FL with the damage but repairable S18 wings in the back of my truck on Thursday morning prior and arriving in KY Dam on Friday and then leaving for home in WI on Sunday morning.

I'm a KY-Dam newbie so any info or help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I have never had a ride in a Thorp, so if there is a way to eliminate that problem over the weekend it would be great!

Thanks,

Tom

You have transportation and there are several Motels along the interstate if the lodge is full. Tell them you are with the Paine Party. Google Gilberstville Motels. Also Possum Trot, ky

Just spoke with Jim Fain at Murray Airport and he asked for a head count for the fish fry.

David will be there. Karen will probably be too busy shopping to go.

Hi All, I completed flight number 8 on WT this am. I'm still chasing some small items- like getting the wheel pants installed. I'll probably get that done at the end of next week. That 4 letter thing called work will keep me away from WT until Wednesday. I've also got a couple small rigging issues to tweak. With any luck, if I can get a couple hours on the airplane then I'll feel pretty good about a venture to KY Dam.

As mentioned in above post, Google Gilbertsville, KY for area motels. There are several on the Interstate not far from Kentucky Dam Village and airport M34. Try the lodge 270-362-4271 ask for the Paine Party when making reservations.

For the pilots in the crowd, the identifier is M34.
