It was great seeing so many of you again at the Thorp dinner during Sun-N-Fun. I have missed my Thorp dearly since selling her in 2012 and the time at Oshkosh and SNF keep me focused on the fact that I will again someday own another Thorp.
I would like to offer to host the spring fly-in in Lynchburg, VA (LYH) on June 5-7. Lynchburg is a beautiful city that sits at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Home to Liberty University and Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, there are any number of activities to keep everyone busy, including the only year round ski slope east of the Mississippi. The field is tower controlled and I would expect that the LU School of Aeronautics will be flight training, but that would provide the opportunity to show off your plane and maybe give a ride to the next generation of aviators. There will be plenty of opportunities to launch the fleet and show the kids how a proper overhead is flown.
Please mark your calendar. I’ll be posting information shortly on hotel and dinner plans.

Awesome. Would love to, but uncle Herb will have other plans. Just makes me want to retire earlier!

I have a block of rooms reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn. They have both a restaurant and bar and offer a free shuttle to/from the airport, so you won't need a car. If you would prefer to rent a car, reserve through the LYH airport location and they'll deliver to the FBO. Avis, Budget, Hertz and National serve the airport. http://www.lynchburgva.gov/ground-transportation-0 (scroll to the bottom of the page for phone numbers).

Reserved my room for the 5th and 6th this morning. Looking forward to the get together. I landed at Lynchburg for fuel back in 89 or 90. Beautiful area!

If y'all are interested I can set up a guided tour of the Liberty University campus lead by Terry Falwell, cousin to Jerry Falwell. The tour is very interesting and I think you'd enjoy it. I'm thinking Friday, mid-morning. Thoughts?
