When we left Sunday morning we flew down the beach first and landed at Dauphin Island. The rest of the flight home was not so scenic. Nikki helped me get this on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_gimaB_ ... e=youtu.be

That was neat, David! That runway doesn't look too big from a distance, with all that water around. Just fine at 3000' length, but the 80' width makes it look shorter to me. Thanks for sharing! Sure is flat around there!

Nice video. Where was the camera mounted? What was the female airspeed voice from. Wish I could have been there.

I have a fresh air inlet on the leading edge of the wing just like Bob and Bill do. I mount the camera on a piece of plastic pipe shoved in there and run a cord down the tube that comes in under my ankles that plugs into the intercom. The airspeed is the "copilot mode" in the MGL glass panel. It starts calling out airspeed below 90 kts which is my target speed for final. Also that way if I am not paying attention and start to get slow when she speaks up I need to start paying attention. There is a mute switch on the panel if I am needing to hear something else. BTW we wish you could have been there too, it was a fun weekend. Hope the get together out west works out as well.

You smart man, GI. I wouldn't have thought of routing the wires that way. Very simple and removable. I keep flip flopping between MGL and Dynon for the new bird. Glad to hear you are flying with it. Maybe the subject for a new thread, but do you like it?

I had the MGL enigma in the original plane, during the rebuild I sold it to Lee and updated to the MGL iefis touchscreen. Not because I was looking for an upgrade but because that presented an opportunity to do so a reduced cost. 7 years ago mgl was more bang for the buck, now I think they may be more equal. Starting from scratch garmin has a new product that is comparable as well. My panel is coupled with the 3" MGL comm radio and a remote transponder, saving a lot of panel space that I use for the iPad running sectionals on Garmin's pilot program. The touchscreen panel is nice on the whole, but has limitations if it is bumpy. Most navigation can be accomplished by either touch or knobs and buttons. Overall I am pleased with my setup. I didn't really take sides did I?
