Flying my bird South for the winter on Monday, we took a slight detour through the Shenandoah Valley of VA......absolutely gorgeous! A must do and friendly FBO.

Flew up to Mojave Space Port today for the first time for their 3rd Saturday Fly In and who do I meet up with in the Airport Café stuffing chow , none other than Tony Ginn ! Weather was outstanding for the desert . Calm winds , clear skies ! Spent about 2 hours looking at the iron on the ramp and ran across an aircraft I flew for Tracor Flight Systems . N32ML an experimental DC9 I flew back in the late 90's . Has a new paint job . Engines removed . As you can see it has more antennas on it than the NSA has ! It was a fun smooth flight from San Diego . Tony sez there is some big air show at Fox Field this year with the Blue Angles ? He is going to post the info on the forum . BOO YA !

Hey Guys,
It was nice to run into Rich at Mojave's Voyager restaurant. I try to make it to their "Plane Crazy Fly-In" every 3rd Sunday of the month (from 0900 to 1300). Maybe more of you will try to drop in now and then. I had my two kids with me so I brought the SuperChief that day.

As Ricardo mentioned, there will be a big event at KWJF, Fox Field Airport in Lancaster CA, on March 21-22. It's being promoted by the same guy that puts on Oshkosh's airshow. It's billed as the L.A. County Airshow (http://lacountyairshow.com). Brian Maisler and I will be 2 of a 4-ship that get to fly a formation flight at the event. The Blue Angels and the Red Bull pilots (Kirby Chambliss/Extra 300 and Chuck Aaron/looping helo) heard Brian and I are flying so they decided to participate as well. Edwards AFB hasn't had an airshow in many years so this will probably be a big one. Edwards AFB will be bringing current military hardware and the Commemorative Air Force will be bringing the awesome restored big iron from Chino and Camarillo!!

The bummer news is that they are not allowing airplanes to fly into KWJF this first year. Between the many static displays and the expected huge crowd, they're afraid they won't have the ramp space. Any T-18s that want to drop in can do so at my home field, Rosamond Skypark/L00, or at Mojave/KMHV. We'll all work to get you to hotels and rental cars (if needed). Let me know who might be heading over. The keg will be full, the horse shoe pit will be warmed up and the hangar (f)lying can commence around the fire pit.

That's all for now.
Tony

Tony: Right now count me in for the Big Show . WX permitting I will land at your field . Hopefully there will not be a big race at the speed way and book up all the rooms ! I can pack an Aero Bed and sleep next to the fire pit and keg to prevent intruders from spoiling the event ! ::)

Wear that pink tutu of yours, cuz when a scorpion sneaks into your sleeping bag, you're gonna put on quite a show. You'll be Lord of the Dance.

Just a reminder that the KWJF Air Show (William J. Fox Airport) will be this March 21-22 , 2014 . Read Tony's write up about where to fly into . I will take up Tony's invite to land and park at Rosamond Sky Park , L00 . ;) Tony...what would be a good time to arrive on Friday ? I would like to attend the Big Show on Saturday and then blast off Sunday morning . :) That way I get 3 days of tax sign off ! :P You can appoint me the Duty Officer on Friday and I'll stand watch over the fire pit , keg and horse shoe pit . :o BOO YA !

Hi Rich,

The L.A. County Airshow is Fri and Sat. I'll most likely be at KWJF most of the day on Friday. I don't know when we fly but I think it'll be early in the day. Fly into my place anytime you like. I'll leave a car for you. I'll fly home whenever the show finishes (4-5pm ??) and I can fly out. Call or email and we'll coordinate.

Any and all T-18ers welcome.

Cheers!

I'm thinking I might fly or drive over for free beer at Tony's. I don't think I want to pay to watch other people fly thou.

Fri or Sat???

Lou

Lou : If you have never seen the Blues fly the F-18 , it is worth the trip to Fox ! We have seen all the Shawn D Tuckers as OSH and all the prop noise and smoke . :o Jets make for a wonderful smell of JP-4 and shock waves ! ;) Don't you live in Landcaster ? ??? The Blues are usually the last on the program . Depending on the transportation arrangements , I plan to go to the Big Show a few hours prior to the Blues and then return for the events at the Ginn hangar . 8)
