Gentleman,
I've just checked with our '2010 Spring Thorp Gathering Chairman' Gary Green and we're still on schedule to get together in June. As we discussed at Kentucky Dam the location thus far is at 'The Valley' where Gary and Maxine live or very close to it. Gary has a potential lake spot that he thinks may end up being a lot like KY Dam that he's looking into as well.

Either way, if everyone pencils in mid-June, location Arkansas we'll be covered. This is a beautiful area of the country, centrally located and I'm personally hoping we end up at Gary's place because I think he has a really neat little airport. Not to mention his workshop is one to take notes on.

We've settled on June 4-6 for the Spring gathering here at 'the Valley'. Ed Ludtke is gonna help us. We'll figger out something to do for a group feed on Friday nite, probably have sandwiches for lunch Saturday and a cookout or catered feed on Saturday nite. I'll get the phone number for motel reservations, prices, etc shortly.

It is time to make your motel reservations for the June 4-6 Spring Fly-in at the Green's. The Brass Door Motel is where most have stayed in the past. Their normal rates are $65+tax, but you may finagle a discount if AARP, etc. There normal cancellation policy is 48 hr but they'll be flexible if it is due to bad weather. Call them at 800-244-1964 or go to www.brassdoormotel.com. I would appreciate it if each of you would drop me an email to let me know when you make your reservations. It helps our planning if we know how many are planning to attend.

As the spring gathering nears, is anyone farther west than Utah going to Arkansas for their famous dental work, rekindle a romance with their first cousin and half sister, or Gary Green's gathering? I plan on making Denver Thursday evening and then on to AK on Friday morning lest anyone care to fly on the wing.

Edit: Ahem - I was none too gently reminded this morning that the AK used in the above paragraph is "Alaska"....and should have been AR - I think "Dummy" was the word used......

An update from 2010 Spring Fly-In Chairman Gary Green ...

Friday Night: Ed and Nettie are hosting a Friday nite feed for all of us. We're expecting around 25 for that.

Saturday Morning: We'll have cereal, fruit, juice, coffee and maybe some doughnuts for the guys staying with us and early tire-kickers/arrivals. The motel crowd can wrangle breakfast for themselves.

Saturday Lunch: Do you think we need to have some sandwich makings for lunch on Saturday? I never eat lunch myself, so I tend to forget about others eating habits.

Saturday Night: I still figure about 75 for the Saturday nite feed.

Do any of you have any other suggestions or preparations I should be thinking of?

GG

I was just informed that the airport info was nowhere to be found on the forum ... to anyone heading to Gary's this weekend, please read his NOTAM below regarding the airport, runway and approach.

Gary Green - I'm picking up a hitch hiker on the way - count on one more for the gathering.

To all of you that attended the "Spring gathering", we expect a full report of the goin's on in four part harmony and five part orchestration.

On another note, is anyone going to the Golden West fly-in this coming weekend? Enquiring minds want to know.
