A little "Butch Wax" would probably smooth things over and the bearing would appreciate it ! ???

Yesterday I tested all the spark plugs - set the multimeter at 2000 ohms - they all tested out between 1050 and 1350 ohms. The loose wire at the mag turned out to be the ground wire from the P-lead shielding to the mag case screw (slick mag). it was hanging on by 2 strands to the P-lead shielding - Once determined and fixed, all comms back to normal. All in all a good exercise as I became more comfy with the charging, electrical and ignition system. Thanks for all the advice!

The "edit" button seems to have disappeared.....I should add to the above that Bruce had it right about the P-Leads....and the admittedly poor excuse I have for not having seen it sooner, is that it was the right mag and the P-lead and ground connx's are on the underside and difficult to see in the sea of udder stuff that exists in proximity.....and it was dark,......and I was tired.....and hungry,.....and thirsty for barley pop.......???.....REALLY thirsty!!

I'll just check my barley pop. Frase, I'll never admit to your bride, but I've had two to three S- bocks a day to soothe the nerves. Good for what ails ya. Besides, they are free here.
