Trust me that "clicking sound" of the Hobbs meter will get your attention ! :) Inside the cockpit the sound is amplified ! " "Click" , Click , Click ! BOOM !

I leave the strobes on all the time. That way if I've forgotten the battery switch, everyone knows! It's kept me from walking away with the battery on a number of times.

I solved my problem of leaving the master on by installing a aux. start plug and carrying jumper cables under the seat. I finally took the jumper cables out about a year ago.

???
Isn't that like keeping an old single wide mobile home out in the field to keep the tornados away from the house? ::)

turned out to be not so good of a weekend for flying. I made it all the way from SBD to FlaBob and made it in nuder the muck for a slow turnout but the chow was good. I saw a WACO staggerwing cabin there that was TOO clean to eat off of.

I had two Gills go south in two years, and at $235 plus shipping a pop, that's unacceptable - here is what I replaced them with:

http://store.batteryspecialists.com/ps12350.html

It is 3.5 pounds lighter than the Gill, so I had to add a sniglet of weight - it also is slightly different dimensionally (but still fit the battery box just fine) and has the terminals reversed, but that was an easy fix - it is also a years worth of socks, underwear and a large bottle of Maker's Mark less in cost. So far many a winter start and strong.
