Has anyone installed the MGL V16 remote comm with either the MGL Razor 3 1/8" control head or te Vega 2 1/4" control head? They have the built-in 2-place intercom, can interface with EFIS, and output a selectable 5 or 10 watts. I read both positive and negative reviews about MGL support. Haven't seen anything bad yet about the V16 or either control head yet. Wondering if anyone in our group has the V16.

I think I have the V6 and am satisfied with its performance. You can either control it with its own controls or through the MGL Explorer panel. I also use the built in intercom. It may not be the finest one out there but is plenty good enough for me. As for the MGL support I was always happy in my dealings with them. I believe that their service is now handled by Michigan Avionics. I have only dealt with them once so far but they were helpful that time. David

Glad to hear you like the radio and their support, David. Thanks.

I have the MGL V16 with the Vega remote head right now. It is connected to a GRT Horizon 10.1" glass panel as well. Overall, it is a great radio. I am currently planning to replace the head with the Razor. After flying in IFR in a twin turbine with full Garmin goodies, the touchscreen for frequencies really is handy (over the slow knob turning).

The control through the EFIS has been a bit spotty. I had to upgrade the head unit, and now I can see the frequencies in the EFIS, but can not control them. Haven't spent much time debugging it though. One of these days I will get in there to see if its a loose connection or firmware problem (which may be addressed with the Razor install anyway).

I use the V16 with up to 4 total headsets (3 headsets are in parallel on the co-pilot channel). Works great.

Hey Travis, thanks for the great info. Hopefully, you get that EFIS integration working so that you can control the freq's in the EFIS.

Thanks John! Got the touchscreen (Razor) head unit installed and flight tested. Works great, and full control is now restored between EFIS and head unit.

Just 2 servos and the setup as absolutely complete!! (For now, ha)
