Anyone install one on their Thorp? I can't see how this thing will fit.

This assumes you have an existing tail light: It appears the uavionix website says you screw the uavionix mount onto the existing tail light base, and put the tailbeacon into the mount and lock it into a down position. Here is a link to the manual, with installation instructions on page 21

I've read the instructions but it looks like I need to drill out some rivets to get the actual light socket out so that the beacon fits in the hole and I can wire it up. Here is a pic.

I see what you mean. It sure looks like you're going to need to drill out a couple of rivets in order to mount the tailbeacon base.

Yes usually that socket is not riveted in ... typically the upper and lower rivets on your plane are screws and the base is tapped. I'd drill those out and tap them for the skybeacon.

Thanks Lee, I'll give that a go.

Yes, that's how you do it. I've done 2: An RV7 and a Sundowner. The 7 required a bit of work to get the TB mount to fit, the Sundowner was R&R. From what I'm reading on another site, the Garmin transponders with digital encoders work first time. King Txps seem to be ok. The old Collins and Narcos tend to be problematic and require a call to uAvionix for tech support, which is very responsive.
