So I have the ability to pick up a EI fuel flow scanner but it has the red cube instead of the higher flow gold cube. Dynon says the red cube will be ok although EI shows gravity fed should be gold cube.

Anyone using red cube on gravity feed? I think david read has the red cube but i'm not sure if he was gravity or fuel pump.

$250 is a great price for a fuel flow gauge and will let me know what I'm running gph to help tune this carb but $500 for a new one is a little much to spend for not really needing it. Buying that and the gold cube puts me right back at the 500$ range although I could get maybe $100 out of the used red cube.

Thanks guys!

Finding lots of deals and slowly getting some new stuff in the plane. I hate spending the money but it will cost me more in the long run for waiting.

So you are still getting decent fuel flow through it on gravity feed? No aux pump? What engine are you feeding? I'm on a 290 so my required flow would be slightly less.

Also, where did you mount it? I was thinking on the tank side of the fuel shut off valve since it needs 2" of straight hose prior to the transducer.

Thanks!

Awesome, thanks for the info!

T18driver, Is yours mounted to the 1/4" fitting at the top of the gascolator? I have my gascolator mounted to the firewall and a straight fitting from the firewall bulkhead fitting then the other 3/8" NPT out goes to the carb. I thought the top fitting on the gascolator was a bleed vent or for a pressure gauge. If it works the same as the other output then I like your setup.

Do you have any worries about vibrations cracking the fittings? I was going to run a hose to the cube, suspend the hoses with adel clamps then run hose to the carb.
